Reiki is Universal Life Force Energy.
The word ‘Reiki’ comes from two Japanese words – ‘Rei’ and ‘Ki.’‘Rei’ is the universal life force, and represents spiritual consciousness or universal knowledge, whereas ‘Ki’ simply means energy.
We are all made up of energy. The energy flowing through our body nourishes organs and cells, keeping our physical system healthy and strong. When this energy is disrupted or blocked, it may weaken the vital functioning of our organs/cells causing physical pain or discomfort.
Reiki is used to cleanse your energy pathways, thereby healing your body, mind, and soul.
Learning Reiki
Reiki isn’t taught in the way other healing techniques are taught. A Reiki Master through an attunement process transfers Reiki to a student. This process opens up the crown, heart and palm chakras and creates a special link between the student and the Reiki source. Anyone can learn Reiki and you are not required to have any prior knowledge or experience.
How does Reiki work / heal?
We are alive because life force is flowing through us. Life force flows within the physical body through pathways called chakras, meridians and nadis. It also flows around us in a field of energy called the aura. Life force nourishes the organs and cells of the body, supporting them in their vital functions. When this flow of life force is disrupted, it causes diminished function inthe organs and tissue of the physical body. The life force is responsive to thoughts and feelings. It becomes disrupted when we accept, either consciously or unconsciously, negative thoughts or feelings about ourselves. These negative thoughts and feelings attach themselves to the energy field and cause a disruption in the flow of life force. This diminishes the vital function of the organs and cells of the physical body. Reiki heals by flowing through the affected parts of the energy field and charging them with positive energy.
What can Reiki be used for?
Reiki can be used for healing self and others, as well as plants, animals stones etc.
History of Reiki?
Reiki has been traced back thousands of years. Evidence of this form of healing has been found in India, Tibet, China, Egypt, Japan, Greek and Roman cultures. A Japanese monk healer named Dr. Usui, in the late nineteenth century, rediscovered Reiki. It is claimed that he found the formula for contacting a high power that could bestow healing in Indian sutra. It is said that after fasting, meditation and following the directions of the formula for 21days, he was stuck by a beam of light in the forehead and initiated into Reiki. Dr. Usui practiced Reiki until his death, and before his death Dr. Chijaro Hayashi took his place. Dr. Hayashi ran a private clinic in Tokyo until his death in 1941 Dr. Hayashi introduced Reiki to his successor Mrs. Hawayo Takata, who lived in Hawaii USA. She introduced Reiki to the west and trained 22 Reiki masters who have passed it on.....

Reiki is a japanese name given by dr. mikao usui who rediscovered it towards the end of nineteenth century through divine blessings. ‘rei’ means universal, ‘ki’ means life force energy.
This is also commonly known as cosmic energy which sustains life. when its level is low or its flow is inadequate or interrupted, we feel sick or diseased.
Gautam Buddha, Jesus christ and many saints had healing touch. it was dr. mikao usui who was bestowed with spiritual healing capability through divine grace in the end of 19th century and out of love and concern he shared this system with common people for their welfare.reiki practitioners are empowered to channelize this energy through their palms for healing. they can also send it for distance healing.

How reiki can be learnt
There are two levels in traditional reiki (first and second degree) for treatment of self and others and each level can be learnt in two days class normally held on weekends. second degree can be learnt after 21days self treatment after learning first degree. during this period physical toxins and mental negativities start getting cleansed.
During the class after the "attunement" (or empowerment) is given to the participants by the reiki master, they can feel the presence of reiki in their palms. during attunement some of chakras located on aura are activated by reiki master. by placing hands on own body or other's body, treatment can be given to self or others after learning first degree. presence of energy in the palms can be felt by the recipient or patient also.
All the applications and techniques for using reiki are shared with the participants in the class who are exposed to practical experiencing.
at second degree level reiki can be sent for distant healing. every one experiences this phenomenon in the class after learning the techniques.
Second degree reiki is four times more powerful and gives unlimited capabilities of healing in a very wide range. one can easily do the following

healing future events or situations to make them favourable
healing of past memories causing negative feelings

healing unresolved problems with a dead person
etc.
Reiki is taught in three separate levels:
First Degree Course (1 Days)
Starts with short meditation, introduction to Reiki, 1st initiation, break, hand position for self treatment, practice of self treatment, questions/answers, hugs/thanks and finish.
Short meditation, learning to practice on others (giving and receiving reiki treatment), break, explations on 7 major Chakras, self chakras balancing, questions/answers, hugs/thanks and finish.
Short meditation, heart meditation, chakra meditation, chair treatment, questions/answers, hugs/thanks and finish.

Second Degree Course (1 Days)
In the second degree Reiki course, you will learn the use of Reiki symbols. These symbols will enhance the strength and distance of Reiki healing.
Starts with short meditaion, introduction to Reiki symbols, uses of Reiki symbols, 2nd initiation, break, beaming technique (giving and receiving), questions/answers, hugs/thanks and finish.
Short meditation, learn to give Reiki treatment (giving and receiving), group meditation, distance healing, crystal protection, questions/answers, hugs/thanks and finish.

Third Degree Course (1 day)
You will learn to impower & enhance your practice of Reiki. A variety of meditation.
